Gemma Marissa

I have loved art and design for as long as I can remember, my family are very creative so it was natural for me to be surrounded by pencils, paper, fabric and yarn. My love for drawing started very early and I was always happiest when sat in my own little world, drawing portraits of friends/family or the flora and fauna I was surrounded by in my family home in Yorkshire. This love for creativity continued all throughout my education and I attended Chelsea College of Art and Design, London exploring my love for texture and colour though textile design.

After graduating, I worked for the fashion houses Paul Smith and Luella Bartley, until deciding to study for a PGCE in Secondary Art and Design Education at the London Institute of Education. From here, I was lucky to have worked as a part time art/textiles teacher in some of the best art departments in wonderful schools, and I also continued to produce crocheted accessories for various London Fashion Week shows.

I now teach at various locals schools and creative establishments and also work as a freelance textiles designer and illustrator. I have had various illustrations published which you can see in the press section of the website and sharing my love for art is very important to me whether it be drawing, designing textiles or teaching. I am looking forward to working on many more projects in the future, please see my social media accounts for more information on up and coming work and classes.
