Gemma Marissa
Gemma Marissa has loved art and design for as long as she can remember. She grew up in a creative environment and so it was natural for her to be surrounded by pencils, paper, fabric and yarn. Her love for drawing started early and she was always happiest when sat in her own little world, sketching portraits or the flora and fauna she was surrounded by in her family home in Yorkshire. This love for art and creativity continued all throughout her education as she attended both Leeds College of Art and Chelsea College of Art and Design, exploring her love for texture and colour though illustration and textile design.
After graduating, Gemma Marissa worked for the fashion houses Paul Smith and Luella Bartley, and also gained a PGCE in Art and Design Education at the London Institute of Education. From here, she was lucky to have worked as an art/textiles teacher in some of the best art departments in UK schools, whilst continuing to produce crocheted accessories for various London Fashion Week shows.
Gemma Marissa now teaches art and design at various schools and creative establishments as well as working at as artist and textile designer. She has had various illustrations published which you can see in the press section of the website and sharing her love for art is very important whether it be drawing, designing textiles or teaching.
She is currently working on new creative projects and has various classes and workshops available over the next few months. Please see Gemma Marissa’a social media accounts for more information on up and coming work and classes.
